With its bold, eye-catching 70’s style motif and colours, the pattern of this mat is based on a much earlier design. It is in fact a detail from Arabian, a plate from Owen Jones' ground-breaking design manual ‘The Grammar of Ornament.’ Published in 1856, the book was a compendium of all the best examples of ornament from different cultures and periods collated by the 19th-century architect and designer.
